- The five islands of Guadeloupe have old forts and colonial homes as an added attraction. The local markets here bustling with activities and the weekly local events like cockfights and oxen pulls are ideal to experience the local culture. The islands have a tropical climate with temperatures remaining between 75 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit round the year. December to February is the high tourist season here with tourists from Europe and North America travelling to the islands in huge number.
- There are numerous connecting flights to the airport of Pointe-a-Pitre from New Delhi. All major airlines fly on this route, however direct flights are not available.
- The beaches here are with the sand mix of white and volcanic black. On the Grande-Terre Island, has plenty of shallow lagoons with coral reefs. Lined with palm tree the Caravelle beach is one of the most beautiful here in the Guadeloupe islands apart from the numerous beaches that are secluded across the island. For most of the visitors, the Grande-Anse beach in Terre-de-Bas is the most popular. Another favourite with the tourists is the Petite Terre Island and a day trip will be fun filled. Beach lunches and scuba diving are the favourite activities here.
- The carnival season here is a happening time that peaks somewhere around February. Then is the annual music festival in the month of May part from the numerous festivals observed by the different islands. The food scene in Guadeloupe is its strongest point.
