The B2/B1 US visa is a non-immigrant visa, which allows foreign nationals to enter into the U.S. temporarily for activities like tourism, visiting friends and relatives, medical care, participation in conventions, conferences, or convocations of fraternal or social organizations, participation by amateurs in musical, sports and similar events.
Differently from the European visa policy where you pay the fee at the Embassy on the appointment day, for a US visa you need to pay the fee online in order to be able to schedule an interview. The fee that applicants should pay depends on the type of visa one applies for.

The difference between the Validity of a visa, number of entries and Duration of stay of a Visa:
Validity of a Visa
Validity of a visa refers to the period that the visa holder is allowed to enter US. Unless otherwise specified, a visa holder may enter US at any time prior to expiry of validity, so long as the entries granted on the visa have not been used up. The visa becomes effective from the date of issuance. The visa automatically becomes invalid once its period of validity expires regardless of whether its entries are used up or not. However, even if an applicant holds a valid visa, he or she might be refused entry by the immigration authorities.
Number of Entries of a Visa
US visas are generally issued for Multiple Entry. The number of entries of a visa refers to the number of times the visa holder is permitted to enter US within the visa’s validity. When the entries are all used up, the visa is no longer valid. Even if there are still unused entries, the visa is not valid either if its validity has already expired. In either case, the visa holder should apply for a new visa if another visit to US is planned. An applicant will be refused entry to US if all the visa entries have been used up.
Duration of Stay
The Duration of stay of a US visa refers to the longest period the visa holder is allowed to stay in US from the day following entry to US. The US visa for Tourist and Business purposes allow applicants to stay for a period of 6 months with multiple entries valid for up to 10 years.
Visa fee Payment process:
Depending on the type of US visa you are applying for, the visa fee may be different. You must pay fees for US nonimmigrant visas, US immigrant visas, as well as for the US diversity visa. These are application fees, while other costs include reciprocity fees.
Keep in mind that the visa fee is non-refundable if you decide to cancel your appointment or if your visa application is rejected.
