Will I need a passport?

Passports are needed when travelling outside of your home country. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the conclusion of your trip.

Will I need a visa?

You are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to the departure of your trip. Depending on your nationality, you may need visas to enter certain countries included on your trip. Obtaining visas can take up to six weeks prior to your departure. It is strongly advised that you consult your travel agent and the local consulate or embassy of the country you are visiting well in advance to determine which visas they require.

When will I receive my booking documents?

Travel documents are usually sent 15 days prior to your trip's departure.

Will I need to pack formal clothes?

This will depend on not only your personal preference, but the destinations you’re visiting and the time of year you’ll be travelling. We’d recommend bringing at least one smart outfit for special evenings.

Will I need electrical adaptors?

Electrical plugs and outlets differ throughout the world. We recommend bringing a universal travel adaptor that’s suitable for the countries you are travelling to.

Will I be able to get laundry done?

Most hotels do offer a laundry service and in some cities laundromats are also available. However, it’s sensible to try and pack enough clothing to avoid having to do laundry, as it can sometimes be costly or inconvenient.

Can I drink the water in the countries I visit?

In Western Europe, Scandinavia, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, it’s fine to drink the water from a fresh-supply tap. For other countries, your travel director will let you know if it’s okay.

What is a travel director?

What is visa?

A travel visa is a travel document which conditionally allows a person to enter or leave the region for which it is issued. A visa application in advance of arrival gives the country a chance to consider the applicant's circumstance, such as financial security, reason for applying, and details of previous visits to the country. A visitor may also be required to undergo and pass security and/or health checks upon arrival at the border.

Do I need a visa for travel?

It depends. An Indian citizen will get benefit from many favorable travel arrangements with countries around the world. For several countries, you will need a valid travel visa in order to enter.

What are the different types of visa?

Transit visa- for passing through the country to a destination outside that country
Short-stay or visitor visa- for short visits to the host country
Tourist visa - for a limited period of leisure travel, no business activities allowed
Visa for medical reasons- for undertaking diagnostics or a course of treatment in the host country's hospitals
Business visa - for engaging in commerce in the country
Residence visa – for people obtaining long-term residence in the host country
Immigrant visa - for those intending to immigrate to the issuing country
On-arrival visa (also known as visa on arrival, oav), granted at a port of entry
Electronic visa - the visa is stored in a computer and is electronically tied to the passport number; no label, sticker or stamp is placed in the passport before travel

How do I get a travel visa?

By submitting basic documents like:

  • Valid passport
  • Completed visa application
  • Passport/visa size photos
  • Payment of required fees
  • In some cases, additional identification such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, or bank statement showing that you the necessary funds to complete your journey
  • Some countries require a copy of your travel ticket
Does it cost to have a visa processed?

It depends. An Indian citizen will get benefit from many favorable travel arrangements with countries around the world and the fee may be waived off. In other circumstances, one will have to pay for the visa.

How long will the process take to process visa?

This depends on the country you’re visiting. Some visas will be issued the same day; others can take weeks (or even months) to process.

My foreign holiday is 45 days away. Can I buy foreign exchange now from Akbarholidays?

At Akbarholidays, you can get foreign exchange up to 60 days in advance of your personal/business trip. In case, you do not travel during that period, the foreign exchange should be surrendered to Akbarholidays.

Do I need to confirm my booking?

No, you don’t. If you really want to, though, contact by email on enquiry@akbartravels.com or you can call us on 022 40743444 (10:00 AM to 08:00 PM) to confirm your reservation.

How do I know if my booking was successful?

You will receive an email and SMS confirming your services booked with Akbarholidays.

What if I don’t get a confirmation at the time of booking?

If a confirmation page doesn’t display once you complete your booking, check your email for a confirmation. If you don’t get an email confirmation within fifteen minutes, let us know at enquiry@akbartravels.com and we’ll send you your confirmation details. You could alternatively also log into your account with Akbarholidays and check your booking status

I didn’t get an email confirmation. What do I do?

If you don’t receive an email after making a reservation, it could be that you have mentioned wrong email address or your internet service provider must have blocked the email thinking it was spam. Check your spam folder and add our email address enquiry@akbartravels.com to your address book so that it doesn’t get filtered out next time. In the meantime, contact us on no 022 40743444 (10:00 AM to 08:00 PM) or write us on enquiry@akbartravels.com so we can send you an email confirmation. You could also check your booking status and details by logging into your account with Akbarholidays

How can I be in touch with my loved ones while on tour?

You can purchase an international sim card and use it to keep in touch with your loved ones. Alternately you can also purchase local sim card or calling cards. You will need to carry your own internationally compatible mobile handsets on tour. However, we are not responsible for charges levied by the international / local authorities.

Can I get medicines on a tour if required?

We advise you to carry all your medicines in sufficient quantities while on tour. Medicines can be made available while on tour but doctor’s prescription is compulsory.

Will I need any vaccinations?

This will depend on your trip destinations. Speak to your travel agent or doctor to find out if vaccinations are required for the countries you will be visiting. If you’re taking medication or suffer from any form of illness, ensure you have an adequate supply of medication before departing for your holiday. Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for peace of mind before and during your trip. It’s important that you protect yourself in case of trip cancellations, baggage delays or loss of baggage, and medical expenses.
