About Hampi

Hampi is a temple town situated in northern Karnataka. It was once the capital of the ancient Vijayanagara Dynasty. This picturesque place, lying amid outstanding ruins of the past, has been attracting travelers from everywhere.   4. The Lakshmi Narasimha Temple The Lakshmi Narasimha statue is the biggest in Hampi. You can see Narasimha sitting on the coil of Seshnag, a huge seven-headed snake. This statue presents a frightening look at Lord Vishnu in his Narasimha avatar.
  5. Krishna Temple Built by King Krishnadevaraya, the main idol was the figure of Lord Krishna as an infant. This idol is now shown in the state museum in Chennai.
  6. Hemakuta Hills The hill is located near the Virupaksha Temple, which provides a beautiful sight of the Virupaksha Temple and the other ruins of the Vijaynagar empire.

How to reach Hampi

By Air

Hubli Airport, about 166 km away, is the nearest domestic airport to Hampi that operates regular flights from Bangalore. Belgaum Airport is another main domestic airport, situated around 270 km away from Hampi. Travelers can hire a taxi from outside the airport to reach the village of Hampi.

By Road

Hampi is well-connected by several bus services from all the main cities and towns. There are numerous private buses, luxury buses, tourist buses, and state buses that run from place to place, so travelers can easily reach their destination without any difficulty. Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Hubli can be traveled by road.

By Rail

The nearest railhead is Hospet, located at a distance of 13 km. Travelers can rent a taxi or a cab to reach the place comfortably. Hospet is well-connected to the main cities and towns, and some of them are Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa, etc.

The best time to visit

Hampi can be visited all-round the year. But given that you have to wander around a lot, the winter season is the preferable time. Also, the famous Hampi Festival is held in November.
