Thailand To Open For Tourism In February, 2022 – Here’s What You Need To Know

One of Asia’s most popular travel destinations, Thailand will resume its quarantine-free travel program from 1^st February, 2022. Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter Thailand under the ‘Test & Go’ quarantine exemption program, which was suspended in December, 2021 due to the rapid spread of the virus.

This article outlines the latest Thailand travel guidelines that will be effective from February 1, 2022.

Indians who meet Thailand’s immigration regulations under the “Test & Go” program can enter the country following the rules defined below.

Upon arrival at Thailand airport:

• Present the Vaccination Certificate. You should be vaccinated for more than 14 days before entering and have been in India for at least 21 days before entering. Children below the age of 12 years are not required to be vaccinated, as long as, their parent or guardian is vaccinated and have a certificate of vaccination.
• Provide proof of negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours before departure or a medical certificate of recovery for those who have contracted and recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months.
• Take a PCR test upon arrival at Thailand airport. (Travellers will have to stay at an approved hotel, while waiting for their test results, but can move around provided they download the MorChana tracking app.
• Download and install the tracking app (MorChana) to ensure you comply with the rules.
• Take another PCR test on the 5th day of the trip.
• Pre-book and provide booking payment confirmation of a SHA+ certified hotel or another approved quarantine facility for a minimum one night stay while waiting for the result of the PCR test taken upon arrival.
• Have a mandatory Travel Insurance with minimum coverage of USD$50,000 that includes COVID-19 related medical treatment costs.
