Holi: Celebrate The Festival Of Colours!

If India wasn’t already vivid, you won’t find a more vibrant event than at the country’s Holi festival, which takes place on March 18, 2022. Holi is celebrated by sprinkling pastel-coloured powder on friends, relatives, and passers-by. Similar to Thailand’s Songkran event, in which people go to the streets with water pistols and other soaking devices, but significantly more colourful.

Holi Celebrations Galore:

As the morning of Holi arrives, people congregate in the streets. They wear old clothing and smear coloured powder all over each other. Throwing eggs and raw tomatoes, fizzing colour mixtures that froth and bubble in water, coloured water balloon battles, and the new and more recent colour additions of black and silver that resist fading even after washing have all contributed to the degree of enthusiasm and celebration throughout the years. To add to the unconstrained atmosphere of celebration, some homes create Bhang ki Thandai, a chilled milk-based drink made with pulverised marijuana leaves blended with almonds and spices.

The Holi festival, which is celebrated throughout the country, is a very engaging and enjoyable event. Historically, Holi marks the start of spring, when agricultural product is plentiful and the land is fruitful. People splash colour on one other to welcome spring and say goodbye to the frigid winter. To ward off evil spirits and promote positive energy, bonfires are lit. They light the fires on street corners. Later, each family prepares refreshments to share with guests and neighbours.

Families load up on colour a few days before Holi and make spectacular appetisers and beverages. Children spend the day plotting pranks on their pals, while elderly meet to enjoy a nice game of cards, and young men and women dress up in ornate traditional garb and visit neighbours and friends. The underlying beauty of Holi is that there is no age limit for sharing and enjoying this beautiful time.

A Holi Getaway:

However, there is always the alternative of spending this colourful event – Holi, with the same enthusiasm and zeal in a new location, someplace not in India but far away. Somewhere even more exquisite and exclusive, particularly for individuals wanting solitude.
