ITINERARY

Riyadh

Day 1

Arrive at King Khalid International Airport. On arrival at Riyadh, you will be transferred to your hotel in Riyadh. Riyadh’s blend of medieval and millennial makes for a beguiling cultural union one where Arabia’s first roots can be traced, and where its bold future can be envisioned. The city’s fascinating, centuries-old history can be found within its atmospheric souqs, compelling museums and ancient architecture, but it’s also a modern metropolis, with glittering high-rises and a burgeoning contemporary art scene. Evening you have free time to explore Riyadh (on own)

Breakfast at your Hotel. We start our tour of mystic Riyadh by visiting the National Museum. The primary custodian of Saudi national heritage and culture, it is a place of learning and discovery that hosts a unique collection of artefacts and covers the whole history of the Arabian Peninsula right up to modern times. After that we head to the nearby Murrabba Palace that was the royal residence where King Abdulaziz hosted his court. The palace was named after its square 40 X 40 meter shape and is now one of the city’s main museums. Adjacent to the palace, a modern building hosts a collection of King Abdulaziz’s personal items which we will tour briefly. These places illustrate the heart of the birth of the Saudi nation.

Day 3

.After breakfast, we drive for 30 minutes to Ad-Diriyah, located on the western bank of the Wadi Hanifah. It is the birthplace of the first Saudi Kingdom and its importance in the history of the Arabian Peninsula was highlighted when it was listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, in 2010, as the most brilliant example of Najdi architecture. The history of Ad-Diriyah goes back thousands of years as it was on an ancient trade and pilgrimage route, acting as a meeting point for those travelling to or from Asia, Africa and Europe. Our visit to the site allows us to admire its incredible architecture before returning to downtown Riyadh.

Day 4

Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel & transfer to King Khalid International Airport for flight (on own) to AlUla. Proceed to hotel/resort & check-in. Later we proceed to Evening Tour of AlUla Old Town. Get a glimpse into AlUla’s not-so-distant past on AlUla Old Town Tour. A Rawi (guide) will lead you through AlUla Old Town, where pilgrims, travellers and permanent settlers congregated through the ages. Inhabited from before the 12th century up until the early 1980s, AlUla Old Town offers researchers unique oral histories and living memory that the area’s other heritage sites cannot. With 900 houses, 500 shops and 5 town squares, you can explore a maze of remnants of original stone and mudbrick buildings and enjoy views of an AlUla Castle dating back to the 10th century. Guest will learn about Old Town’s settlers and pilgrims, as well as their motives and methods in the city’s construction.

Day 5

Post breakfast we will pick up from your hotel & will start our exploration of AlUla, the mysterious city, with the visit of Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the largest preserved site of the Nabataean civilisation south of Petra. Home to more than 110 tombs carved from giant rock formations, this ancient site is open for visitors to explore and learn about the culture, traditions, and history of its people. After this visit organized in collaboration with the Royal commission of ALULA, we will go for lunch in the city. In the afternoon, we will participate in visiting the site of DADAN & IQMAH, famous also for their heritage, before we end up for sunset to discover the Elephant Rock. Set in Golden Desert Sands and climbing three storeys into the Saudi Arabian sky, it is the awe-inspiring site known as JABAL ALFIL, one of the Al Ula’s many geological Marvels. At the end of the afternoon, back to your hotel. This tour is the perfect discover the city its elements.
